Synthesis and pharmacological evaluation of several ring-contracted amantadine analogs
2008
Graphical abstract Several bisnoradamantylamines and noradamantylamines have been synthesized and their antiviral, trypanocidal, NMDA receptor antagonist, and dopamine reuptake inhibitory activities have been studied.
Binding Profiles of Self-Assembled Supramolecular Cages from ESI-MS Based Methodology
2018
Confined molecular environments have peculiar characteristics that make their properties unique in the field of biological and chemical sciences. In recent years, advances in supramolecular capsule and cage synthesis have presented the possibility to interpret the principles behind their self‐assembly and functions, which has led to new molecular systems that display outstanding properties in molecular recognition and catalysis. Herein, we report a rapid method based on ESI‐MS to determine the binding profiles for linear saturated dicarboxylic acids in a series of different cages. The cages were obtained by self‐assembly of modified tris(pyridylmethyl)amine (TPMA) complexes and diamines cho…
Positive Allosteric Control of Guests Encapsulation by Metal Binding to Covalent Porphyrin Cages
2018
The allosteric control of the receptor properties of two flexible covalent cages is reported. These receptors consist of two zinc(II) porphyrins connected by four linkers of two different sizes, each incorporating two 1,2,3‐triazolyl ligands. Silver(I) ions act as effectors, responsible for an on/off encapsulation mechanism of neutral guest molecules. Binding silver(I) ions to the triazoles opens the cages and triggers the coordination of pyrazine or the encapsulation of N,N′‐dibutyl‐1,4,5,8‐naphthalene diimide. The X‐ray structure of the silver(I)‐complexed receptor with short connectors is reported, revealing the hollow structure with a cavity well‐defined by two eclipsed porphyrins. Rath…
Proximity Effect using a Nanocage Structure: Polyhedral Oligomeric Silsesquioxane-Imidazolium Tetrachloro- palladate Salt as a Precatalyst for the Su…
2016
A polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane-imidazolium tetrachloropalladate salt (POSS-Imi-PdCl4) was prepared by the reaction of a polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane-imidazolium chloride salt (POSS-Imi-Cl) with PdCl2 and used as a pre-catalyst for the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction in water at 100 °C at a low loading (0.08-0.16 mol %). Biphenyl compounds were isolated in high to excellent yields. A comparison of the POSS-based catalyst with the corresponding catalyst without the nanocage structure (i.e., 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrachloropalladate) highlighted the role of the POSS structure to reach higher yields in the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction. This result is ascribed to a proximity effect of …
Endohedral Mixed Aggregates: Sodium Alkoxide Cages with Organic or Inorganic Central Anions and Variable Hull.
2021
Abstract Alkali metal alkoxides are widely used in chemistry due to their Brønsted basic and nucleophilic properties. Potassium alkoxides assist alkyllithium in the metalation of hydrocarbons in Lochmann‐Schlosser‐bases. Both compounds form mixed aggregates, which enhance the thermal stability, solubility, and the basic reactivity of these mixtures. A very unusual spherical mixed alkoxy aggregate was discovered by Grützmacher et al., where a central dihydrogen phosphide anion is surrounded by a highly dynamic shell of thirteen sodium atoms and a hull of twelve tert‐butoxide groups. This structural motif can be reproduced by a reaction of trimethylsilyl compounds of methane, halogens, or pse…
